He Sent His Word

As we continue this journey of discovery together, it seems fitting to look at one of the clearest foundations for healing: God has given us His Word.

There are many Scriptures concerning healing, but let's begin with this powerful declaration from the Old Testament:

“He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And declare His works with rejoicing.”
— Psalm 107:20–22 NKJV

Notice the connection: He sent His Word, and He healed them.

Jesus later gives us an important picture of how the Word works in our lives. In Mark 4:3–8, He describes a sower scattering seed onto four different kinds of ground. Later, Jesus explains plainly, “The sower sows the word.” (Mark 4:14 NKJV).

The seed is the Word of God. But the condition of the ground affects what happens to that seed.

How might we apply this truth when believing God's Word concerning healing?

The Wayside — The Word Never Takes Root
The seed is quickly taken away. A thought such as “God doesn't want to heal me” can prevent us from even considering what His Word says.

The Thorny Ground — Other Voices Crowd Out the Word
The cares and pressures of this world can become louder than God's promises. Circumstances may tell us, “It won't happen for me.”

The Shallow Ground — The Word Hasn't Developed Deep Roots
Sometimes we hear one verse or study the subject once and expect that to be enough to overcome years of contrary thinking, fear, or experience. One seed can eventually become a mighty tree, but growth takes time. It needs water, nourishment, and an opportunity to develop deep roots.

The Good Ground — The Word Takes Root
We receive God's Word, return to it, meditate on it, and allow its truth to become established within us. A seed may not look like much when it is first planted. For a time, we may see nothing happening at all.

But beneath the surface, roots are growing.

And when that seed takes root, fruit follows.

God told Jeremiah:

“You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”
— Jeremiah 1:12 NKJV

What a wonderful promise to hold onto. Our responsibility is not to make God's Word work. Our desire is to receive it, believe it, and align ourselves with it.

At Christian Healing Center of Naples, we desire to fully align our prayers and ministry with God's Word. When someone comes to receive prayer, they don't have to stand alone. We can come alongside one another, agreeing together with what God has spoken.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us:

“A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

So let's lock arms around God's Word: the person receiving prayer, those praying alongside them, and the truth of God's Word at the center.

“He sent His word and healed them.” — Psalm 107:20 NKJV

Let's be one of the “them”!
